From the Director

Spearhead Research  A new project is keeping our team busy. It involves an in-depth study of our environment to present risk assessment scenarios to our clients.

This project ties in with our first project as there are many common features. We aim to present Pakistan positively and our research is leading us into many such areas--- which include but are not limited to, the economy, political stability, counter-insurgency, foreign policy and the socio-economic scenario. We continue to attract talented researchers and analysts. Many students have reached out for input into their research work. We actively support all research activity.

Understandably the greatest interest is on the post-election developments within Pakistan. The economy, the political coalition, inflation and energy shortfalls are major discussion topics. The blurring of the external and internal threats of extremism is the hottest topic that our researchers and forum participants are studying and researching.

Besides the thought provoking contributions by our registered users, the Spearhead Research team has posted a number of Research Reports. Our latest reports have been focusing on good governance, economics stability, foreign policy and Pakistan's future role in the global war on terrorism. here>>

Spearhead Research Opinion Forum has also been busy with users actively participating in debates and posting their views. You can access and participate in our Opinions Forums by clicking here>>

Spearhead Research has built-up a data base of selected material. These articles are either carefully selected by our team or they are submitted by Spearhead Research members. Panel of experts

Our researchers list continues to grow. This gives us a panel of experts, advisers and researchers on whom we can depend to  produce objective and in depth reports. We hope that are panelists and registered users will continue to post their writings, opinions and comments.

We hope to reach out into the corporate world for interaction and support.

Future Directions

We will continue to monitor and study Pakistan’s evolving political situation and economic environment. The changing pattern of relationships in the Greater South Asian Region and the nuances of the US-Pakistan relationship will be a major field for research..

Threat perception has acquired urgency as the violence increases in Afghanistan with spillover into the Swat and Fata areas. There have been cease fire violation in the Kashmir area with no resolution of the issues between India and Pakistan. Creative thinking based on research and case studies could help.

We continue to look for more funded projects and collaborative research arrangements. We also plan to organize periodic discussions on selected topics.
